Boss RC-3 – Release Date: Jan 2011
While the Boss RC-3 Looper (now discontinued) still retained the same recording quality as previous Boss loop pedals such as the RC-2 and RC-20XL (16 Bit at 44.1Khz sampling rate), they’ve added some substantial new features and improvements. The RC-3 stepped up its recording time to a massive 3 hrs total with 99 memory locations to store your tracks. Max file size is an awesome 17Gb, so you can capture an entire show as a track if you need to!!

On the back side of the RC-3 you’ll find USB-B connectivity for file transfers, firmware updates and Factory restore, and Aux In port, and standard 9vdc In. The pedal can also use a 9v Battery, so you can be a Looping Busker!
It also comes loaded with Stereo A/B In & Out, Tap Tempo, and a more advanced and improved Rhythm (Drum Machine) accompaniment. As with most Boss loopers, you cannot change a time signature once you’ve captured a loop. You’ll have to clear any loops before you can adjust a time signature.
There is a Sleep mode that activates after 10 hrs of non-use. It can be disabled or enabled by holding the foot switch down while powering up.
You could connect a dual foot switch such as a Boss FS-6, FS-7, or a pair of FS-5u pedals for added control & performance flexibility. You’ll be able to switch between memory banks, stop the tracks & Drums, and clear all silently. But don’t try to use an FS-5L foot switch, as you’ll get some very unexpected results from the Latching functionality.
