Who Is Singular Sound Founded: 2012
So just who is Singular Sound ?? In 2012, a young lad by the name of David Packouz created a company called Singular Sound. The name derives from the idea of a solo artist having singular hands-free control over an entire musical performance. In that regard, all (or most) of their products pertain to that goal. The very first product was called the Beat Buddy.
Originally released thru an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign in 2013, the original Beat Buddy became a near-instant game changer – a full blown drum machine in a pedal, for solo/duo musicians all around the world. Be they a one man band, a loop artist, a multi-instrumentalist or a smaller musical act of two or three people, the concept of a pedal-based drum machine was radical, and unheard of at that time. Add to it the ability to switch between different drum parts, add fills, stop/stop the drums, and even create transitions between parts, and you had the recipe for any musical act to suddenly have a cooperative, portable drummer who gets along with everyone in the band. Can you imagine a drummer who doesn’t keep on drumming while you’re trying to tune, or communicate with one another?? Perhaps best of all, musicians no longer had to spend an hour setting up & tearing down drum kits, or dragging 200lbs of gear or up & down flights of stairs, or overfilling their vehicles for every gig.
As I said, it was previously unheard of !!
The fundraising campaign was more than successful, and Singular Sound released the Beat Buddy in 2014, then went on to the NAMM Trade Show the following year, where they ‘stole the show’. Taking home the ‘Best In Show’ award in 2015, the Beat Buddy received positive reviews in just about every music gear publication on the planet !! Singular Sound went on to receive a Platinum Award For Excellence from Guitar World, and was even inducted into the Guitar Players Hall Of Fame!!
