What is Looping, and why do I need to Loop ?

Looping is basically the capturing (recording) of a portion of a song, and replaying that part in a variety of ways that you can specify, while you then continue play other parts over the captured portions. The captured part can be very short, such as a measure or a couple beats, or a 12 bar line, or a complete verse. It could even be a complete song.

You can use a hardware-based looper, like a pedal,  or a software-based looper such as a PC, laptop or tablet connected to an audio interface.

Typically, you can add many layers to an already captured loop, or replace what the loop is playing with a new part, or let it loop continuously until you decide to stop it. There are many different kinds of loopers available from many manufacturers, with a multitude of various possible capabilities.

Some can only accommodate only a single track (or loop), some can capture 2 or more separate tracks (or loops) that can be played back individually using a variety of playback methods, and some can capture multiple tracks (loops) that can be different lengths, different instruments, different sound sources, different textures and different rhythmic patterns. The list goes on, and the benefits to a musician are endless!!

You can be a single musician and sound like a complete band, or learn multiple parts of a song, or create your own new compositions very quickly & easily!!
